As creatives, we all have our own processes. For many of us, the decision to consider ourselves artists may subconsciously be a political act. It can be seen as a rejection of working for a capitalist system that reduces us to expressionless cogs within an assembly line for efficiency. The reason why we make art as artists is deeply personal. Yet having a creative process can be a universal human experience. Creating anything, whether we consider it art or not, gives us meaning. It’s our way of responding to the world and the transient life we live. It’s an ability to create meaning out of nothing and to share it with other humans to invoke discourse and emotion. The life of an artist can be romanticized. A creative process can imbue one's life with meaning, but it is a labor of love. Labor is still work, and to sustain a life as an artist, one has to survive as a human under the economic systems of power. In our current globalized world, almost all forms of economic systems are based on capitalism. The question of whether capitalism is good or evil is not the point of discourse. It simply is, has been, and will continue to influence the world of art. So what is a creative person to do?

One of my favorite videos that reassure that the process of getting “good” takes time and the importance of building your taste when art is so subjective

Interesting video on the attention economy and the idea of “content creators” that has evolved over the years. It investigates how social media can be an amazing tool for creatives but also how to protect your identity and personal reasons for why you may want to create.

Steal like an artist concept. great visuals to explain how everything is influenced and sampled from something before it.
